PRESCOTT, Ariz. The Bradshaw High School Marching Band, under the direction of Chris Tenney, earned an Excellent rating at the Prescott Mile High Marching Invitational Oct. 20, which qualifies them to compete in the State marching band competition Saturday.
"We had a very successful showing," Tenney said. "It's been almost a decade since an event with accolades like this one."
The students also brought home four out of five possible caption awards: percussion, auxiliary (color guard), music performance and general effect.
The band had one more competition this past weekend at the Northern Arizona University Band Day in Flagstaff.
"We will continue to take the judges' commentary - their audio and written comments - to refine our show, to keep growing the show," Tenney said, adding that he anticipates continued achievements at high levels or even earning a superior rating, which is reserved for bands that are "standout musicians in every way."
